A new survey has revealed that a quarter of motorists routinely bump into other cars while trying to park.

The study by Citroen UK found that many motorists have lack of confidence in their parking ability and a similar number of drivers admitted they lack the confidence and skills to park properly, the Daily Express reported.

According to the research, 40 percent said they feel an increased anxiety when parking with passengers in the car, with 45 per cent of women and 31 per cent of men finding their partners being in the car with them to be the main cause.

The survey of 2,000 motorists showed that 44 per cent of people aged 18 to 24 didn't consider themselves as confident parkers, while 23 per cent of motorists, aged 55, lacked parking confidence.

A Citroen UK spokesman said that parking is an everyday driving task, but it can be challenging and with this campaign they want to help make parking slightly less scary for some and also to celebrate the parking skills of others.
