Current World No.1 Spanish tennis ace, Rafael Nadal, beat Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov in a return from his back injury at the Rio Open final.
Nadal's victory came four weeks following his loss to Stanislas Wawrinka in the Australian Open final, four weeks ago, as he had tweaked his back while warming up.
According to the BBC, the Spaniard did not look under threat as he survived two match points in the semi-final against Pablo Andujar.
Nadal made only a handful of unforced errors in his complete match against Dolgopolov who also hit several exquisite winners, but could not get Nadal's upper hand and lost the final 6-3 7-6 (7-3).
This was reportedly 43rd clay title and the victory has stretched his record on the surface to 298-21, the best of the Open era.
Dolgopolov, World No. 57, who upset David Ferrer in the semi-final, rallied in the second set to break Nadal's serve for the only time when the 13-time Grand Slam winner was serving for the match, the report added.
However, Nadal took the title with a dominant tiebreak continuing the 2013 French Open champion's winning streak on clay since his only defeat by Novak Djokovic in the Monte Carlo Masters 10 months ago.
