Rupee plunges to 67.98 per US Dollar

The rupee plunged by 15 paise at 67.98 against US dollar at early trade on Wednesday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market as the dollar firmed up overseas.

The domestic currency opened at 67.91 a dollar and touched a low of 67.98.

The forex market had remained closed yesterday for the Republic Day.

Meanwhile, Sensex too was down 4 points at 24,481 in early trade.
