Sports Authority of India (SAI) Director General Jiji Thomson said here on Wednesday that boxer L Sarita Devi's suspension by International Boxing Association (AIBA) was unfortunate and his organisation would try its best to revoke it.
The AIBA suspended Sarita Devi and her coaches indefinitely because of her protest at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
"I came to hear about Sarita's suspension by AIBA, it's very sad. This has happened and we will have to find out how best we can revoke the suspension." SAI DG Jiji Thomson told ANI.
An emotional Sarita Devi had refused to accept the bronze medal at the podium during the award ceremony in protest at a controversial verdict handed out against her. She had received a stern warning from the OCA (Olympic Council of Asia) because of her actions.
