SC issues notices for removal of encroachment in pavements and footpaths

The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Centre and the state governments asking them about the steps taken to remove encroachments in the footpaths and pavements.
The bench headed by Chief Justice of India R M Lodha has granted them 10 weeks' time for filing their response.
The Supreme Court acted on a PIL filed by an NGO which stated that these kinds of encroachments are putting the lives of the pedestrians at danger.
