World number one Serena Williams has confirmed that she will start her 2016 season with the Hopman Cup in Perth, adding that it will help her prepare for the Australian Open.
Last year, Serena managed to reach the finals of the mixed doubles event with American partner John Isner.
Williams said she is really excited to play again in Perth, adding that she will again play in the doubles event to get some experience for Australian Open, Sport24 reported.
The 21-time Grand Slam champion has not played any match since her US Open semi-final lost to Roberta Vinci.
With the defeat, Serena also failed to complete her calendar grand slam.
Serena won three majors this season namely Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon before losing at the Flushing Meadows.
