Shahryar insists PCB can survive financially without Indo-Pak series

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan on Wednesday said that he will return back disappointed as he couldn't have talks with the BCCI officials but added that they can survive financially even without a bilateral series with India.

"At this point of time, it is not a complete no. But very soon it has to be because we don't have much time left. A yes or no reply is completely necessary at this point of time. The chances of the series taking place have reduced significantly by the fact that we couldn't exchange with the BCCI to try and solve the issues that stand between us," Khan told ANI.

"I will go back disappointed naturally not because of a negative response and we will lose money on it. That is not the case at all. We came here to see if we could engage in a bilateral series. If it doesn't happen, it hasn't happened for eight years. We will survive financially... It will be a financial setback but only in the sense that we will not a get a bonus from where we are now. We are not going to plead, that's not what we have come for. We have just come here to seek a yes or no reply," he added.

Earlier on Monday, the much-anticipated scheduled meeting between the Indian and Pakistan cricket board officials was cancelled soon after about 200 Shiv Sena workers stormed the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai office.

According to the MoU signed between the PCB and BCCI, both countries are scheduled to play six series under the 2015-2023 Future Tours Programme, subject to clearance from the Indian Government.

India have not played a full bilateral Test series with Pakistan after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
