Top-seed Ajay Jayaram progressed through to the third round of the Canada Open after edging past Martin Giuffrein the men's singles event.
After suffering a first-game defeat, Jayaram rebounded strongly to register a 17-21, 21-17, 21-13 win over his Canadian opponent in a thrilling second-round contest that lasted for 54 minutes.
Second-seed H.S Prannoy also made it to the next round after a hard-fought battle against Sweden's Mattias Borg 13-21, 21-11, 21-15 in another men's singles match.
Meanwhile, fourth-seed B. Sai Praneeth also raced into the pre-qaurters after beating Chinese Taipei's Kan Chao Yu 26-24, 21-16.
Jayaram and Prannoy will now lock horns with Austria's David Obernosterer and Canadian B.R. Sankeerth respectively while Praneeth has set up a clash against Canada's Wenchao Shi for a place in the semi-finals.
