In a bid to attract tourists officials in north east Gangwon Province are planning to set up a nude beach in South Korea.

According to Korea Times, official from the municipality's Pan-East Sea Division said that they are planning on creating beaches with specific purpose, and are mulling over the possibility of a nude beach, CNN reported.

Officials and have been in discussion over the possibility since 2005 and are planning to have a foreigner-only trial run.

Previously, Gangwon Province had tried to launch a female-only nude beach in 2005, while Gangneung City also deliberated, but ultimately scrapped, a nude beach idea due to public outcry.
