Universal Pictures' 'Steve Jobs' film has been scheduled for October 9 release.

The movie, which stars Michael Fassbender as the Apple genius, is being helmed by 'Slumdog Millionaire' and '128 Hours' director Danny Boyle from a script by 'The Social Network's Aaron Sorkin, Deadline.com reported.

Scott Rudin is producing along with Mark Gordon, Film 360's Guymon Casady and Christian Colson.

The film, which is based on the Walter Isaacson biography, is set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac and the center of the digital revolution.

While Fassbender plays Jobs, Kate Winslet will portray former Macintosh marketing chief Joanna Hoffman, with Seth Rogen as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and Jeff Daniels as former Apple CEO John Sculley. Katherine Waterston portrays Jobs' ex-girlfriend Chrisann Brennan, and Michael Stuhlbarg plays Andy Hertzfeld, one of the original members of the Apple Macintosh development team.

Other film that would be opening that time will be Warner Bros/New Line comedy reboot 'Vacation', Disney's 'The Finest Hours' and Fox's Halle Berry thriller 'Kidnap'.
