Tamil legend 'Aachi' Manorama passes away at 78

Celebrated Tamil actor Manorama, lovingly known as 'Aachi,' passed away here on Saturday at a hospital after suffering a heart attack.

Her last rites were conducted on Sunday morning in the presence of her fans and family.

Manorama had acted in over 1,200 Tamil films and was in league with acting greats like MGR and Sivaji Ganesan in career that spanned over six decades.

She holds a Guinness World Record for acting in more than 1,000 films.

She was awarded the Padma Shri in 2002 and also won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for 'Pudhiya Pathai' in 1989.
