Setting up another example of communal harmony and unity in the city, a group of Hindu craftsmen are making the auspicious Tazia (a replica of the tomb of Husain, the martyred grandson of Prophet Muhammad, that is carried in processions during the Shi?ite festival of Muharram) which is taken out by mourning Muslims.

Hussein ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad and son of Ali, was killed in the Battle of Karbala on October 10 680 A D. in present day Iraq. The battle took place between a small group of supporters and relatives of Husayn and a larger military detachment from the forces of Yazid I, the Umayyad caliph.

It is considered as the second holiest event in Islam, after Ramadan.

The Tazia which are made of paper are later on buried, but the one which is being made in Vadodra is being made of various elements, including 63 kilograms of German silver and 43 kilograms of brass.

This amazing Tazia is being made by Vipul Kansara and his fellow craftsmen.
