Vikas Swarup to be next MEA spokesperson

Vikas Swarup, a 1986-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, is set to take over as the next Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson.

According to sources, Swarup will take over from the incumbent Syed Akbaruddin, who is expected to be assigned some other portfolio.

Swarup, who is currently posted in New Delhi as Joint Secretary (United Nations - Political), made headlines for writing his book 'Q andA', which was later turned into the smash-hit Slumdog Millionaire.
