Congress leader Hansraj Bharadwaj on Thursday blamed former home minister P Chidambaram of propagating the controversial Section 66A of the IT Act, refusing to believe the latter's argument of 'bad drafting'.

"A defamation Bill had been brought during the times of Rajiv Gandhi. The press revolted and it had to be withdrawn. Today he says it was bad drafting. But what is bad drafting? Whatever you say is what the Cabinet will approve. P Chidambaram should be asked why he brought in the bill, now he is saying it was bad drafting," Bharadwaj told ANI.

"Chidambaram has been finance and home minister and has the best blessings of the party leadership. Therefore he can get away with anything in the party," he added.

Bharadwaj further alleged that the Bill passed because the Congress and BJP worked in tandem under the UPA government.

"In the UPA Government, there was no difference between the Congress and BJP. They used to work together. They had a cosy club and some BJP leaders have even had to pay the price for that by being omitted today," he said.
