India reached 92 for two at lunch on the opening day of the second Test against England at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium here on Thursday.
Opting to bat first, India started slowly on the wicket, which looked a little tacky for batting. Opener K L Rahul, who was making a comeback after recovering fully from his hamstring injury, got dismissed for a duck off a Stuart Broad delivery.
Rahul's opening partner Murali Vijay looked in great touch as he struck a couple of boundaries off Broad's delivery. However, he failed to capitalize on it and got dismissed for mere 20 runs.
After losing the openers, first drop Cheteshwar Pujara joined forces with skipper Virat Kohli to steady India's innings. The duo shared a solid 70-run stand for the third wicket to bring their side back on track.
The match also saw off-spinner Jayant Yadav make his Test debut on the same ground where he made his ODI debut.
