Johnson, Graeme engage in Twitter spat over Aussies-Proteas series

Former South African captain Graeme Smith and former Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson have locked horns on social media after the Proteas took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ongoing three-match Test series against the Steve Smith-led side.

Johnson posted a tweet in the wake of the former Australian legend's recent comments, where he said that the culture of the Australian team appears to be in turmoil before raising questions about the administration of the game in the country.

Posting a montage image highlighting the Proteas' infamous run of World Cup failures, Johnson took to micro blogging website Twitter to take a cheeky dig at Graeme and South African journalist Neil Manthorp.

"Australia have coped it and yes they aren't performing but when comments come from SA @NeilManthorp @GraemeSmith49 remember the big moments!," he tweeted.

The 35-year-old was a regular menace to Graeme during some hostile Australia-South Africa Test match battles, breaking his hand twice removing him four out of six times as Australia claimed an historic 2-1 triumph to displace South Africa from the No.1 Test ranking in March 2014.

Hitting back at Johnson after his country's win in Hobart, Graeme mentioned the margin by which South Africa clinched victory while also enquiring about the sales of Johnson's recently-released book, 'Resilience', cricket.com.au reported.

"Woke up at 3:30 am SA time and the highlights were already on @MitchJohnson398 ?? hope the book sales are going well? @NeilManthorp," Graeme said after the Proteas' massive win by an innings and 80 runs over Australia.

However, Johnson avoided giving witty response to Graeme and tweeted,"@GraemeSmith49 @NeilManthorp yep ?? not much I can say to that ??."

The duo have met in five Test series throughout their careers, with honours even at 2-2.
