Have you ever noticed why the person at the next desk is constantly asking about your weekend or holiday plans?

Well, you might want to be careful about what you say because your colleague might secretly be trying to ask you out on a date.

New research done on shy and unattached Brits, revealed that they fish for clues every day to find out if the person they have taken a shine to is single, the Daily Express reported.

Two-thirds of the workforce admitted to the fact that they looked for the hints, while only a third are brave enough to come straight out and ask someone if they're available.

Shane Wilson, a customer service manager from Portsmouth, told the publication that it's not easy to ask someone if they're in a relationship as they might be scared off by how blunt you are.

Wilson, 29, asserted that he usually tries to get clues and then see where the conversation takes them.

Kate Taylor from dating website Match.com, which conducted the survey, said that some singles are way too shy to use obvious approaches on people they find attractive.

She said that you could be being chatted up daily and just not notice.
