Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna on Thursday said that his government is leaving no stone unturned in rehabilitating the people, and added that they were ensuring that the aid reached to everyone.
"The work has been going on and we are continuously dropping the relief materials. There are places that are inaccessible by helicopters, but no area shall be left out. I have all the information and I am monitoring it myself," he told the media here.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand assembly speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal praised the army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) for successfully conducting the rescue operations in the flood ravaged state.
"The amount and effort and dedication with which the ITBP and army successfully conducted the operations, it was a very big challenge and we emerged successful. A large number of people were rescued through these operations, and I believe that if these operations were not conducted with such great speed then many more would have died of hunger, thirst and disease," he said.
The Vijay Bahuguna Government has intensified its drive to restore damaged infrastructure in the affected areas. Teams from the electricity department and PWD have been deployed for restoration of power supply and damaged roads in rural areas. In several worst affected localities, water supply system has been restored.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has been asked for restoration of the important roads to facilitate movement of traffic and speedy supply of essentials to the affected villages.
