Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Friday said he is writing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a memorial at 10, Rajaji Marg in the name of late former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
"Everyone can see the love of the people for Kalam. There must be a road named after him. I am writing a letter to the Prime Minister to make a memorial at 10, Rajaji Marg, where he used to live. The people should know how he lived," Alvi told ANI.
Earlier in the day, BJP MP Maheish Girri wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi, asking him to rename Aurangzeb Road in the national capital to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road.
Dr. Kalam, 83, passed away on Monday in Shillong after suffering a massive cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture to students at the Indian Institute of Management.
