New Zealand opening batsman Kane Williamson has reportedly preferred not to talk about his safety or fear while playing in the match against England, which saw heavy lightning.
Williamson said that yes, there was lightning, which was obviously not ideal, adding that he feels that it is just part of the game.
According to Stuff.co.nz, Williamson and captain Brendon McCullum were batting in the match against England when there was heavy lightning, but the umpires gave the permission to continue playing.
However, the players were later called off the field as it started raining and New Zealand won the match under laws, which cater to exist for abandoned matches.
The batsman said that a player is really not used to playing with lightning, so it is a bit foreign and also said that he was just trying to watch the ball and play as best he could.
Williamson, who is not known for his provocative comments, said that lightning striking the metal grill of their helmets had been his and McCullum's concern adding that the lightning was 'big forks and things', so every chance they got they took their helmets off and walked away from them.
