Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh on Saturday said certain elements were trying to bring back the 2008 situation in the valley, but the Mufti Mohammed Sayeed-led state government would not let that happen.
"There are some elements who are making efforts to bring 2008 situation again, we will not let it happen," Nirmal Singh told the media here.
"There is no space for violence and sedition. The government is taking action against such elements," he added.
The valley has been reeling under violent clashes with a 15-year-old boy reportedly dead after security forces fired at protesters in Narbal in Srinagar today.
The incident comes in the wake of a complete shutdown across the Kashmir valley today on the call of Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
Geelani had called the bandh over the killing of a youth from Tral in Pulwama and the arrest of Hurriyat leaders, including separatist Masarat Alam.
Alam, meanwhile, was remanded to seven-day police custody by a court in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district earlier in the day.
