Youth gather in Agartala to send out national integration message

To invoke the feeling of integration and unity, the youth from different states across the country participated in an event in Agartala and showcased their varied culture and traditions.

They danced and sang songs, interacted with each other and shared views on various issues. The youth from fifteen states across India gathered in Agartala as part of a national integration youth camp.

The six-day long event was organised at Shahid Bhagat Singh Youth hostel under the National Youth Project (NYP).

Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy pitched for national integration and stressed on the role of youth towards nation building.

Roy said, "The youth who have come here from different regions I want to remind them all that make contacts to different people and integrate with them and work towards nation building."

Different programmes like community singing, community games, language learning and other interactive events were also held.

Dressed in their traditional attires, they performed various cultural activities so that the people get to know and respect each other's culture and religion.

The event drew huge crowd and the audience raptly listened to the poetry, speeches and various stage performances, thus arousing patriotic feelings among the people.

Dr. S.N. Subba Rao, an organiser, "Every citizen of this country has the duty to keep this country united and towards every citizen of India we should have broad heart because this is a vast nation."

Alok Parek, a participant, said, "There are different states with different cultures, languages and traditions; therefore it is necessary to organize such a camp to make people aware of each others' traditions."

A peace rally was also organized in which youths in their traditional attires participated in a colourful procession raising slogans of unity and peace.

Such camps help the youth to know the country's diverse and rich culture.
