Hyundai, the Japanese auto giant, is leaving no stone unturned in order to strengthen and consolidate its position as the second largest auto maker in India. It was reflected recently when the second generation of company's premium hatchback i20 was spied as test mule near Chennai.
The 2015 Hyundai i20 is one of the 22 cars that the company intends to launch under the badge of 'Product Momentum 2017′ in the coming course of three years. Going by the images, it can be proposed that the next generation i20, codenamed as IB, looks completely changed than the ongoing model as it has received an all new exterior as well as interior. Speculations are rife that the vehicle would make its world premiere at the 2014 Paris Motor Show which is scheduled to take place in September. Indian showcasing can be easily predicted around that corner too.
Hyundai's aggressive approach to match the sales figures of Maruti, the current Indian market leader, and grab the top spot is going quite right as of now. The new i20 appears to be having a much spacious interior, adequate spacing for the rear passnegers, and feature rich than ever. And in this awe, the length of the car might exceed the 4-meter barrier, which would subsequently result in double excise duty. Given the fact that it is being developed in Hyundai's R&D plant situated in Frankfurt & Nurburgring. Mechanically, the vehicle is expected to be retaining the same 1.4-litre oil burner and 1.2-litre Kappa2 motor. Hyundai hasn't thrown slightest of lights on the transmission that the engines would be coupled with but either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed manual is on cards for the diesel engine whereas the petrol one would be driven enroute a 4-speed automatic transmission.
