7 Things That Make Mahindra KUV100 Special!

Okay, the SUV-ish hatchback, KUV100 is finally being launched at a decent price bracket of Rs 4.42 lacs to 6.67 lacs (ex-showroom, Pune). The all new offering from Mahindra is to compete against the likes of Hyundai i10, Maruti Swift and Ford Figo, considering the price tag. The homegrown manufacturer has made sure to stuff their car with as much features as possible. So here are five things that make KUV100 special.

Instrument Cluster

Now, Mahindra has had their fair share of trouble in making the driver feel good, take the Verito for example, it had a very basic instrument cluster that didn’t impress. But, this is not the case with the KUV100, the instrument cluster is housed into a very nice and sporty enclosure. The layout of the needles and the digital MID also looks good, not to forget the steering that is very modern.

Gear Lever Placement

 

The last time I saw a gear lever placed on the dashboard was in the Honda CR-V. Like CR-V, such placement makes shifting very easy and fast in KUV100, as you don’t have to take your hand down to grab the gear lever as is the case in most of the cars. Moreover, the vertically stacked dashboard provides easy access to all the music and A/C controls.

Safety

Now every manufacturer is standardizing basic safety features like ABS, EBD and airbags and Mahindra too has joined the foray. The KUV100 is launched with standard ABS across all the variants, while one may opt for optional airbags across the same.

Peace of Mind

Mahindra is providing 2 years of warranty with unlimited kilometers with the KUV100 and this will certainly ease your senses if you are willing to own one. Usually, manufacturers provide a particular limit of kilometers, say 30,000 or 50,000.

The Motors!

Mahindra KUV100 is powered by two brand new set of engines that are specifically developed for this vehicle. The 1.2-litre mFalcon petrol produces 82PS of power and a decent 114Nm of torque. On the other hand, the diesel is a 1.2-litre turbo motor that produces 77Ps of power and 190 Nm of max torque.

Puddle Lamps

The puddle lamps are neatly placed on the undersides of all four doors and is quite a useful feature. Getting off from the KUV in a dark area is more convenient and nobody else in this category provides puddle lamps. 

Flexi-6 Seater

Mahindra has smartly placed a middle seat in between the two front seat that doubles-up as an armrest for the driver as well as the front passenger. Though, nothing can be said about how safe that seat is (however, a lap belt is given for this seat), but it will still attract a good number of buyers.
