Audi has announced at their Annual Press Conference held yesterday at the headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany - that the all new next-gen 2016 A4 (codenamed - B9) will be revealed this year. And it is reportedly coming at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The German automaker has also achieved new sales record this year - 1.74 million automobiles delivered in 2014. Rupert Stadler, Board of Management Chairman, added on this, “We delivered more in 2014 than promised. After a very positive start to this year, we aim to achieve a new record for unit sales in 2015.” Moreover, apart from the new A4 revealing, Audi will start the sales of its new Q7 and R8.
About the new Audi A4, the sedan is on test from quite sometime and in the recent A4 spy shots the camouflaged test mule reveals design of it’s new LED head and tail lights. Furthermore, the 2016 A4 is most likely to grow in size and will be riding on the second generation of MLB platform - MLB EVO that debuted with the 2015 Audi Q7. All thanks to the platform's multi-material construction it will be lighter than the on-going car.
Speaking at the Audi’s Annual Press Conference, Ulrich Hackenberg - Board of Management Member for Technology explained -
“The new models Audi Q7, Audi R8 and Audi A4 are the highlights of our model initiative in 2015.”
Adding on the engines, the next-gen A4 will get the uprated powertrain globally - 1.4, 1.8 and 2.0 - TFSI and 1.6, 2.0 TDI, along with the powerful 3.0 TFSI and 3.0 TDI. Moreover, 2016 A4 could also get the new 2.0-liter 240 PS Bi-turbo TDI that debuted with the 2015 Passat. Speaking in context to India - Audi is expected to continue with the current engine options - 2.0L TDI and 1.8L TFSI, in their uprated form.
