BMW 2 Series Coupe officially teased

A few days back, we reported that BMW is planning to develop a new 1 Series sedan, which is expected to be launched by the mid 2015. The German luxury carmaker is also working on a new 2014 2 Series Coupe, and has released the first teaser for the vehicle, which will debut on October 25.

The company has already announced that they are going to phase out the 1-Series Coupe and Convertible. The new 2-Series Coupe is speculated to enter the production in November and will go on sale by the first half of next year. Few days back, the specifications and details of the vehicle has been leaked on the web. The vehicle is expected to be made available in 218i, 225i and 220d versions, and the company will also introduce the M235i in the future as well. Rumors are also there that the luxury carmaker will also launch the flagship M2 version of the vehicle in 2015.

The performance oriented BMW M235i Coupe will get the same 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder inline engine that also powers the 1 Series. The engine is capable of generating 322bhp of top power and 450Nm of torque. When the engine is mated to an automatic transmission, it sprints to 100kmph from stand still in mere 4.8 seconds, however, it takes 0.2 seconds more in manual transmission. The vehicle has an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.

The other model, BMW 220i will get the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder unit that develops 181bhp and 270Nm. The vehicle accelerates to 0-100kmph in mere 7 seconds and has a top speed of 235kmph. The last model, BMW 220d Coupe is powered by the 2.0-litre diesel unit that produces 181bhp and 380Nm of torque. With automatic gearbox, it sprints to 100kmph from stand still in mere 7.1 seconds and has a top speed of 235kmph.

The company will introduce the 3 Series family with a rear-wheel drive layout as standard, however, some select models will be available in the xDrive all-wheel drive system. It is also speculated that the vehicle will get several safety components like Acoustic seat belt warning, adaptive headlights, automatic lock when driving away, M Sports brakes, rear view camera and others.
