Mercedes-Benz had launched the new S-Class at the start of this year. With this new flagship model, the Stuttgart based manufacturer has raised the bar with the new V222, and now the competition need to start working on something that is as good as this new S-Class. This doesn’t end here, the company will introduce more updates for the S-Class very soon. These updates will be more of increase in customisation and more optional features will be available with the S-Class.

The new features will be Touchpad and Linguatronic. The touchpad will be approx. 65 x 45 mm in size, which will recognise single and multiple-finger gestures, swiping movements and pinching gestures to zoom in or out. Users are able to input letters, special characters and numbers in their normal handwriting. The touchpad will have 3 buttons located behind the touchpad that will allow for fast and direct operation of important functions.

On the other hand, Linguatronic is a system that will allow access and control to all media functions e.g. music, telephone and navigation through voice, making it easier for the operator. The customer will benefit from easy access to all media functions without distractions. Currently all cars have lingutaronic button on steering wheel which is not functional. This will be an add-on feature on the S-Class very soon.

The touchpad will be available on the S500 only and Linguatronic will made available on the S500 and the S350 CDI. The S-Class is at the moment available only as S500, soon we will see the S350 CDI to be make available as well.

Amongst the competition, Audi recently upgraded its A8 and other brands might soon be introducing their upgraded version. This new flagship from Ingolstadt is a massive upgrade from the outgoing version, though not major changes have has been incurred on the outside.

The Jaguar XJ has now taken the CKD route and we will soon hear an announcement from the British car manufacturer on reduced prices. At the moment, the XF and XJ will be the two products that are being sold in our market as CKD. BMW had upgraded the 7 Series last year with several new features on it.

Mercedes-Benz will also introduce the new C-Class this year, sometime in the last couple of months. The GLA-Class is also due this Diwali. CLA 45 AMG is coming up next month, however the conventional CLA will be seen sometime next year.
