Invoking an already anticipated response, Honda has registered 4,000 bookings for its compact SUV, the BR-V. The number is encouraging as Honda had launched the car just a week ago, though the manufacturer started accepting bookings from April, 2016. The deliveries are yet to begin and are expected to commence shortly.
The price of the car ranges from Rs. 8.75 to 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is offered in four variants. This latest offering from Honda’s line-up competes in the five-seater compact SUV space. Though, the design has resembles that of an MPV, especially the side profile, the availability of two additional seats does help.
The car runs on same engines which power the Honda City. Even the power figures are exactly similar (119PS/145Nm for petrol and 100PS/200Nm for diesel). There is a slight change in the transmission duties where the carmaker has introduced a six-speed manual gearbox instead of five-speed. The CVT transmission is also available only with the petrol mill.
The carmaker is reportedly eyeing annual production of 40,000 units for the BR-V. The MPV-ish SUV is a refreshed product from Honda - good for highways as well as for daily commute. We do expect the booking numbers to go up in the coming days.
