GM has updated the Trailblazer exhaustively to compete with three of its arch rivals (globally) which are a generation ahead of it – the Ford Endeavour, the Toyota Fortuner, and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport – all of which are India bound!
Chevrolet has revealed the production-spec facelift of the Trailblazer SUV in Brazil. The facelift was showcased in a concept form in March at the Bangkok Motor Show and was christened the Chevrolet Trailblazer Premier concept. The SUV will go on sale from this month in the Latin American country. Speaking of its Indian launch, the globally outgoing Trailblazer was launched here in October last year, and this mid-life facelift is expected to arrive in 2017 or early 2018.
The American automaker has completely revised its front fascia and the cabin, while the rear profile has received subtle changes. The front profile now features a butch look compared to the previous one, and is in line with Chevy’s global design language. It features a new dual-port grille, flanked by relatively sleeker headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The front fenders have been changed to accommodate the new headlamps and hood, while the remaining side profile has been left unchanged, save for the new set of eighteen-inch alloys.
On the inside, the 2017 Trailblazer has received a brand-new dashboard. The new dash looks premium and Chevy highlighted that it has improved the overall quality and has used softer materials. The facelifted Trailblazer will have the new version of Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system, which comes with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The hydraulically assisted power steering has been replaced with a new electrically-assisted unit, which will be a boon when it comes to city manoeuvres.
The Trailblazer's 2.8-litre diesel engine and its six-speed automatic transmission have remained unaltered. We expect local assembly with more variants and a competitive pricing when this updated version arrives India, since the current Trailblazer comes in a single variant with 2WD option only.
