When Maruti Suzuki announced the introduction of Ciaz, all breathed a sigh of relief and happiness. It was high time that the SX4 needed a replacement. The car had started to show its age among the competition and the rivals have gone ahead leaving the SX4 gasping for breath. Many Maruti loyalists have refrained from buying a sedan because they were waiting for a car from Maruti Suzuki but the SX4 just wasn’t enough. So, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has bigger shoes to fill in, now that it has more players in its segment than the SX4 had.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz gets an all new design both in its exterior and the interiors. Though not as exciting as the concept shown at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the Ciaz has all-new styling resembling no other model in the brand’s lineup. The Ciaz’s design comes as a fresh, neat and understated when compared to the sweeps and creases of the competition. The interiors are big on space, feel airy and get new design theme. The overall design is a welcome change in place of the outdated SX4.

The space inside the Ciaz will be one of the highlights as it has one of the best rear seats in terms of leg room. The quality of the materials used inside too has gone a couple of notches high, the best in Maruti Suzuki’s cars yet. The equipment list also gets several new additions for a Maruti Suzuki, with leather upholstery, all0new touch screen multimedia system, reverse camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear AC vents etc.

Next big thing is that Ciaz will be made available in both petrol and diesel versions right from the start, unlike the SX4. The SX4 was introduced only with a petrol engine in 2007, while it took four years for Maruti Suzuki to introduce a diesel version in 2011. The Ciaz gets the same engines that power the Ertiga but they are extensively modified to offer better performance and fuel economy. The 1.4-litre petrol engine gets the option of a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission, the 1.3-litre diesel engine gets only the 5-speed manual option.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has been priced very competitively from Rs.6.99 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi. So, looks like the Ciaz has got everything to take on the competition and get Maruti Suzuki into the C-segment game with a worthy participant.
