After introducing the performance-oriented CLA 45 AMG in July last year, Mercedes-Benz India today launched its regular version, the CLA sedan in the country. Available in both diesel and petrol options, the entry-level luxury saloon is being offered in three variants with prices ranging from INR 31.5 lacs to INR 35.9 lacs (ex-showroom Delhi).

Exteriors:

While the steroidal overtones of the AMG version are missing in the CLA, it still oozes enough style to make it the best looking offering in its segment. The front fascia somehow resembles to that of the A-Class, featuring swept back bi-xenon headlamps and the imposing grille. The low roof line, frameless windows and the high beltline which flows brilliantly into the muscular tail-end adds up to the overall stance of the car.

Interiors:

There are two color themes on the inside, you can either opt for an all black interior or go two tone. Except some smart additions, the interiors are pretty similar to the A-Class and the B-Class. With its large glazed areas, the Panoramic sunroof ensures a particularly bright and roomy ambience on the inside.

Infotainment System :

The large display screen stands free on the dash and is good enough for viewing under any kind of light. The navigation system in the car is sourced from Garmin, featuring precise map data and is very user friendly. Last but not the least, Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system also comes as standard in the CLA.

Safety Features:

Mercedes has equipped the CLA with an array of safety features including ABS, BAS, ESP, ASR, Hill assist, six airbags and Start Assist. These all have ensured that the car has a 5 star rating from EURO NCAP.

Engine Options:

The CLA gets two engine options, namely a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.1 litre diesel. The turbocharged 4-pot petrol mill is good for 183 bhp at 5500 rpm and 300Nm of torque between 1200-1400rpm. While the 4-cylinder diesel engine pumps out 135 bhp between 3600-4400 rpm along with a maximum torque of 300 Nm between 1600-3000 rpm. The 7G-DCT dual clutch gearbox, which currently doing duty in almost all the Merc's offerings, comes as standard.

Prices (ex. Showroom, Delhi) :
- CLA 200 Sport (Petrol) : INR 35 Lacs
- CLA 200 CDI Style (Diesel) : INR 31.50 Lacs
- CLA 200 CDI Sport (Diesel) : INR 35.90 Lacs
