More powerful Audi A3 introduced in UK

Audi, the German luxury carmaker has introduced a more powerful and updated version of its A3 lineup for the UK buyers. The compact sedan now offers the option of advanced LED (Light Emitting Diode)  headlights achieving daylight-like levels of illumination, and comes equipped with a new 2.0-litre TDI engine variant. Audi UK is also offering the SE and Sport models with a new LED package costing £2,000 (INR 186795.00), which also includes LED rear lights, light and rain sensors and LED ambient interior lighting. S line and S3 models are available as a stand-alone option costing £795 (INR 74251.01).

Nine high-performance LED chips in two free-form reflectors generate the low-beam light in the new headlights for the A3, while the high beam uses ten high-performance LEDs to emit light through an aluminium aperture. Static turning and all-weather lights are housed in a separate module, while the daytime running and parking lights, and the indicators are formed by a light guide that wraps around the upper and inner headlights.

Audi A3 and A3 Sportback are now available with a more powerful version of the 2.0-litre TDI engine. The engine is now capable of developing 184bhp and 380Nm torque peak between 1,750 and 3,250rpm, and supplements the 150bhp version of A3 which has been available since launch. The vehicle is now compatible with both front-wheel drive and Audi's quattro all-wheel drive systems, but only for the Sport or S line specifications.

Audi A3 and A3 Sportback engines are mated to a six-sped manual transmissions, and accelerate to 100kmph from stand still in mere 7.3 seconds and attains a top speed of 233kmph. With 2.0 TDI, 184bhp, it will deliver an excellent fuel economy fo 24.3kmpl in the combined cycle. The Audi A3 saloon with 2.0 TDI, 184bhp engine is priced at £24,375 (INR 2276564.06) and goes up to  £30,055 (INR 2807061.86). The vehicle is already available to order with deliveries starting from September.
