At the 2014 Paris Motor Show, Suzuki Motor Corporation will hold the global premiere of its all-new small and stylish SUV model. The new five door car is named Vitara and it marks the return of the famous badge first used by Suzuki more than 25 years ago, also on a small SUV.
The Suzuki Vitara is the production model based on the iV-4 concept; which was first exhibited at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013. Everyone predict the iV-4 concept to turn into some other compact SUV, however Suzuki had different plans.
This will go on sale in Europe during spring 2015, the all-new Suzuki Vitara will be available with optional ALLGRIP intelligent four wheel drive with petrol and diesel engines that offer low CO2 emissions as well as outstanding fuel economy in the sector.
Suzuki Vitara will have a striking road presence with distinctive design. Customers will have the option of personalising the car with various colour and trim customisation options. We will ideally see the Vitara come to India as well. There is already the Grand Vitara that exists in our market, which has never done well like the Kizashi and are both available on order basis. Once you place the order, you will have to wait for a period of two to three months for the car to come in from Japan.
Earlier on, Maruti Suzuki made losses when it had kept the car on sale through its dealership. As the number hardly crossed 50 in a month in wholesale and in retail, it failed to capture the masses attention. Being known as a low-cost and affordable brand, the buyers for Kizashi were limited. Cars in the segment above Kizashi like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry got better numbers too.
