Volvo XC90 unveiling today, BMW X3 launch tomorrow

Two big releases in 24 hours, both are SUVs, or should we say, both are premium SUVs known for their luxury features and potent powertrain. One is from the Gothenburg, Sweden while the other from Bavaria, Germany. Yes, you guessed it right, we are talking about the Volvo XC90 and BMW X3. Volvo Cars is going to unveil the next gen XC90 today while the upgraded BMW X3 will be launched tomorrow. Though, Volvo have officially revealed the images of next gen XC90 yesterday, but it will be interesting to see the car and not just the studio shots, don’t you think?

Moreover, the German automaker BMW will launch the facelift version of X3 SUV tomorrow. The manufacturer is refreshing its model lineup as the company recently launched the all new BMW X5 along with BMW 1 Series M Performance limited edition and 7-series ActiveHybrid for INR 1.35 Crore (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). With the introduction of facelift version, the X3 will have an edge over its nearest rival Audi Q5, Freelander 2 and Mercedes Benz ML Class.

Volvo updating its 12 year old ongoing XC90 with the next generation model which will lock horns with Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Mercedes Benz GL Class. Volvo have now officially revealed all the exterior interior images of XC90, while previously only interior images were revealed. The SUV is based on the Volvo’s bespoke Scalable Premium Architecture (SPA) platform. The most highlighting feature of the car is the 9.5-inch tablet-like touch screen central console, which controls mostly all the functions of the car. The screen is divided into the four sections for the easy access of navigation, media, phone and weather.

Coming back to the facelift version of BMW X3, the updated model gets biggers headlamps with optional LED headlights and redesigned front and rear bumpers. The SUV now also embraces  power ORVMs with side blinkers, new color shade and sporty alloy wheels. While under the hood, the X3 facelift will remain the same and will be offered with optional 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre engines. The xDrive20d houses the 2.0-litre engine churning a power of 184bhp and 380Nm of torque, while the xDrive30d model gets 3.0-litre motor which develops a power of 258bhp and peak torque of 560Nm. Both the models are offered with 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
