Tata Zica Sedan: Know More About

Tata Motors have been struggling to create an impact on the Indian automotive market. Even in December 2015, total sales of passenger and commercial vehicles (including exports) were 39,973 vehicles, lower by 4%, over 41,734 vehicles, sold in December 2014. But all this could soon be a story of the past. With products like Zica and Zica Sedan soon to enter the market, Tata might witness a flood of customers in dealerships.

Tata Zica will be launched alongside a sedan sibling. The car will be almost identical apart from the extra boot on the sedan. It is extremely likely that Zica sedan will employ the same engine, features and safety equipment which are used in the Zica hatchback. The sedan is expected to lie in a sub-Zest category and will initially rival other sub 4-meter sedans like Figo Aspire and Xcent. Where the Expert Review of the Zica hatchback is out, very little has been said about the sedan. So, here is all you need to know about Tata Zica Sedan. 

Looks

 

Tata has overhauled its old design language and introduced the new DesignNex. This comes as a welcomed change in Tata’s portfolio as the Zica looks stunning. The new honeycomb grille alongside the new headlight cluster being underlined by a chrome line adds to the appeal of the car. The sedan will most probably use the same tail light cluster as well, which is no issue as the unit on ZIca looks good. The wraparound unit meets a strong body line on the side profile giving a bold look to the side profile. Width and height of the car is expected to remain the same (width - 1,647mm, height - 1,535mm) but the length will most probably lie in the 3,988mm to 3,999mm range. Ground clearance could be slightly increased from Zica’s 170mm to about 173 mm. Even on the inside, Zica sedan will continue to impress with body coloured AC vent pallets in the top end and a display unit in the centre. 

Features

Tata will go all out on this Sedan. Like the Zest, Zica sedan will also come feature packed. Listing all the features could take a while so bear with us. Like the Zica, this sedan will feature an eight-speaker system which will receive an input from Tata’s ConnectNext system powered by Harman. This system comes with Bluetooth, USB & Aux-in connectivity and is connected to a large display in the centre which also relays data from the rear parking sensors. Adding to the above list, Zica sedan will also feature a Juke-Car App which allows seamless music streaming via an Android Device through a mobile hotspot. This eliminated the need of Bluetooth pairing and hassle of Aux wires or USB drives. Also, this sedan will have a Navigation app which will display detailed navigation information on the car’s infotainment system after being paired with an Android device via Bluetooth. 

Engine

 

Tata has introduced an all-new lineup of 3-cylinder mills for the Zica. Logic dictates that the same will find home in the Zica sedan as well. The petrol unit, christened as Revotron is a 1.2-litre 4 valve MPFi unit which produces 83 bhp power and a peak torque of 114 Nm. The diesel unit is called Revotorq and is a 1.05-litre CRAIL engine which produces 70 bhp power with 140 Nm of torque.  Adding to the drivability of the car are drive modes. The driver can select City or Eco drive mode which will tune the performance of the car. 

Safety

Zica sedan will offer a lot of gizmos focused towards a safe drive. These will include the presence of a 9th generation ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with infotainment screen display and corner stability control. Alongside these assists, the car is designed in an energy absorbing body structure which absorbs the kinetic energy generated in a crash and prevents the cabin from crumpling. Also, the car will have dual front airbags to ensure safety of the occupants.

Tata Motors has been spending heavily on the development of their products. Recently, they even made it to the top-50 list of the world's biggest companies in terms of their R&D (Research and Development) investments. Although the majority portion went to its UK subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover, the quality improvements can be seen in the Indian products as well.
