Capital Goods stocks edge higher

Capital Goods stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Capital Goods index increasing 286.44 points or 1.55% at 18809.34 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Capital Goods index, ABB India Ltd (up 2.05%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd (up 2.02%),Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (up 1.6%),Grindwell Norton Ltd (up 1.44%),Siemens Ltd (up 1.35%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Finolex Cables Ltd (up 1.29%), V-Guard Industries Ltd (up 1.23%), Carborundum Universal Ltd (up 1.11%), Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd (up 1.09%), and Honeywell Automation India Ltd (up 1.04%).

On the other hand, NBCC (India) Ltd (down 1.48%), HEG Ltd (down 0.86%), and Schaeffler India Ltd (down 0.63%) turned lower.

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 385.67 or 1% at 38979.19.

The Nifty 50 index was up 118.15 points or 1.03% at 11558.35.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 60.34 points or 0.45% at 13444.11.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 26.06 points or 0.58% at 4509.39.

On BSE,1013 shares were trading in green, 455 were trading in red and 51 were unchanged.
