FPIs step up selling

Net outflow of Rs 1418.69 crore on 5 December 2017

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 1418.69 crore into the secondary equity markets on 5 December 2017, higher than net outflow of Rs 244.05 crore on 4 December 2017. On 5 December 2017, the Sensex had declined 67.28 points or 0.2% to settle at 32,802.44, its lowest closing since 15 November 2017.

The net outflow of Rs 1418.69 crore on 5 December 2017 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3736.48 crore and gross sales of Rs 5155.17 crore.

There was an inflow of Rs 15.59 crore into the 'primary market & others' category on 5 December 2017.

FPIs have sold stocks worth a net Rs 2110.77 crore into the secondary equity markets in December 2017 so far (till 5 December 2017). They had purchased stocks worth a net Rs 9703.50 crore from the secondary equity markets in November 2017.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 11002.63 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2017 so far (till 5 December 2017). They had purchased shares worth a net Rs 12094.42 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016.

FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 108.69 crore from the primary market & others' category in December 2017 so far (till 5 December 2017). They had purchased stocks worth a net Rs 10024.15 crore from the primary market & others' category in November 2017.

FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 44131.44 crore from the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2017 so far (till 5 December 2017). The net inflow from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' had totaled Rs 8471.76 crore in calendar year 2016.
