The Hong Kong stock market finished up for third straight session on Thursday, 24 August 2017, as investors returned to work after a typhoon hit the city. However, gain was capped amid growing uncertainties over U.S. politics after yet another controversial remark by President Donald Trump. The Hang Seng Index rose 0.43%, or 116.93 points, to close at 27,518.60. Turnover increased significantly to HK$104.8 billion from HK$90.4 billion on Tuesday. The local markets closed yesterday because of a hurricane-strong typhoon hit.
