VIX rises for third consecutive trading session
The Nifty January 2020 futures were at 14,602.30, a premium of 38.85 points compared with the Nifty's spot closing of 14,563.45.In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index added 78.70 points or 0.54% to attain a record closing high of 14,563.45.
Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 25.88 lakh crore compared with Rs 21.16 lakh crore in the previous session.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, rose 2.07% to 22.85.
The Nifty option chain for 28 January 2020 expiry showed maximum call OI of 20.80 lakh contracts at the 15,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 29.94 lakh contracts was seen at 14,000 strike price.
Tata Motors, RIL and Bharti Airtel were the top traded stock futures contracts in F&O segment for January expiry.
The January 2020 F&O contracts will expire on 28 January 2020.
