At least 12 people were killed and over 20 others injured Sunday evening in a blast at a restaurant near the Wagah border post in Pakistan's Lahore, officials and local media said.
Medical Superintendent of Ghurki Trust Hospital said that 12 bodies and over 20 injured, including women and children, were brought to the hospital after the incident, reported Xinhua.
The official said the death toll may further rise as a number of injured are in critical condition.
The incident took place at 5.50 p.m. local time in a restaurant near Wagah border area in the outskirts of Lahore. At the time of incident, many people were in the restaurant for food, the reports said.
Initial reports said the explosion took place due to gas cylinder blast, but police did not confirm it.
Rescue teams, police and security forces rushed to site and shifted the bodies and injured to the nearby hospital.
