Fourteen swimming pools here have been sealed for operating without permission from the administration, a top official said Tuesday.

"We got complaints about 19 pools operating illegally. The pool operators were issued notice. After an inquiry, 14 pools were closed. A total of 50 swimming pools in the city have been permitted to operate," Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi told media.

He also said that the district administration has taken an initiative to eliminate the role of middlemen in issuing licences to pubs or bars.
