5.6 magnitude quake hits Assam

A moderate intensity earthquake, measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale, hit Assam early Sunday, the India Meteorological Department said. There was no immediate report of any loss of life or damage to property.

The temblor occurred at 6.35 a.m. in Kokrajhar town.
