The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Sunday extended to November 19 its deadline for submitting tenders inviting new corporate clubs in I-League for the 2016-17 season.
The winners of the bid will be allowed to field a team in the I-League starting January 7 and also get an opportunity to participate in Asian Football Confederation (AFC) club competitions subject to necessary requirements, as per an AIFF statement.
Chandigarh-based Minerva Academy FC and FC Bardez Goa have submitted bid documents to be part of the league.
FC Bardez, formed this year, is currently top of the ongoing Goa Pro League and is coached by former Dempo and East Bengal manager Armando Colaco.
Minerva finished second in the final round of the second division league last year with 18 points from 10 matches. Dempo SC won the second division to gain promotion to the top flight of the I-League.
