Rain played spoilsport on the second day of the second Test cricket match between Australia and England at the Bellerive Oval here on Sunday.
During play on Saturday, South Africa had scored 171-5 after Australia were bowled out for a paltry 85.
Temba Bavuma (38) and Quinton de Kock (28) were at the crease when umpires called it a day on Saturday.
Electing to field, South Africa made full use of the overcast conditions with pacer Vernon Philander grabbing a fifer to pack back the Kangaroos in barely 32.5 overs.
For Australia, captain Steven Smith (48)and Joe Mennie (10) were the only batsmen to cross the double-digit mark.
Brief scores:
Australia 85 (Steven Smith 48 not out, Vernon Philander 5/21, Kyle Abbott 3/41) vs South Africa 171/5 (Hashim Amla 47, Mitchell Starc 3/49).
