Akali Dal names candidates for Delhi polls

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Tuesday announced the names of its candidates for four seats ahead of the Dec 4 Delhi assembly elections.

Harmeet Singh Kalka will contest from Kalkaji (south Delhi), Jitender Singh Shunty from east Delhi's Shahdara, Maninder Singh Sirsa from Rajouri Garden and Shyam Sharma from Hari Nagar, said SAD Delhi president Manjit Singh G.K.

While Kalka and Shunty will contest on BJP's lotus symbol, Sirsa and Sharma will contest on Akali Dal's symbol - scales.

Contesting the polls in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Akali Dal were allocated four seats in Delhi when the BJP announced names of 58 candidates Nov 6.

Delhi has a 70-member assembly.
