Trouble continues to plague singers Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger's paradise even as the news of their split continues to do the rounds.
After a little over a year of marriage, the duo is said to be heading for splitsville and things aren't getting better between them, reports eonline.com.
Their relationship is still on the rocks, although the Nickelback rocker and the "Hello Kitty" singer, who wed in July 2013, have yet to take a decision on whether to call it quits.
"Things still aren't good," said a source about the couple.
"But Avril's friends are encouraging her to try and work it out. They don't like Chad, but she's already been through one painful divorce and they don't want to see her going through another unless there's no other option.
"Also, she and Chad haven't been married that long so her friends want her to make sure she's given it every chance before pulling the plug," the source added.
Rumours of their split were aggravated when Lavigne was spotted celebrating her 30th birthday last month without her 39-year-old husband, and then earlier this week, when Kroeger was seen at a bar sans his wedding ring.
Lavigne is also a "a bit lost right now," the source said, and added: "Her career isn't in the best place and she's trying to figure out what she wants for her future. She's trying to write music and she paints, but her life is in limbo."
But motherhood could perhaps save their union.
"Motherhood is something she really wants for herself. So this thing with Chad, it's going to go one of two ways. Either they're going to get rid of each other or there's a shot they might try to have a baby to save the marriage. My bet is they end up splitting," the source said.
The duo got engaged in August 2012 after a six-month courtship and they exchanged wedding vows less than a year later.
