Rio de Janeiro, June 15 (IANS/EFE) Around 1,500 Argentinian fans gathered at the famous Copacabana beach here ahead of their national team's opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Maracana Stadium Monday.
Despite the gathering being of peaceful nature, the police used pepper spray against some fans for jamming the traffic at one of the main streets near the beach. The police also forced some fans to get down from the roof of a bus where they danced and jumped, reports EFE.
On the other hand, the Argentinians kept teasing Brazilians with their songs that praised Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona.
Argentina is in Group F of the FIFA World Cup along with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nigeria and Iran.
