The Indian men's golf team was tied fifth and the women were eighth after the first round of the team event of the 17th Asian Games at the Dream Park Country Club here Thursday.
The men's team comprising Feroz Garewal (70), Udayan Mane (70), Samarth Dwivedi (71) and Manu Gandas (71) returned with a card of 211. The three best scores were taken into account.
In the individual round, Garewal and Mane were tied ninth with two under 70 while Dwivedi and Gandas were tied 20th with one under 71 and all four are within close distance of the leader Cheng Tsung Pan of Chinese Taipei, who carded a six-under 66.
In the women's team event, the trio of Astha Madan (75), Gurbani Singh (75) and Aditi Ashok (78) were tied eighth with a score of 150 after the two best scores were taken into account. Gurbani and Astha were tied ninth while Aditi was tied 22nd in the individual category.
