Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull arrived here on Saturday on a four-day state visit.
He was welcomed by Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy at the airport.
This is Turnbull's first visit to India. He will also visit Mumbai.
His predecessor, Tony Abbott had visited India in September 2014 and this was followed by Prime Minister Modi's visit to Australia in November that year.
During the visit, the two sides are expected to sign a number of memoranda of understanding and agreements, covering security, environment, sports, science and technology and health, among others.
