Bangladesh's anti-crime Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has seized 270 kg of sulphur and arrested a male suspect in the seaport city of Chittagong, some 242 km southeast of capital Dhaka.

Acting on a tip-off, RAB spokesman Jahangir Aslam told media that law enforcers launched a raid at a warehouse on Monday afternoon and seized 270 kg sulphur, which is used in making crude bombs, Xinhua reported.

"We've every reason to suspect that the stock could've been used to make crude bombs."

The Detective Branch of Bangladesh Police last month claimed to have seized 1,200 kg of explosive material in Dhaka and Chittagong.
